Dak Prescott will be selected in the early rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft, and his alma mater of Mississippi State made a video thanking him for his time.
While much of the attention entering the 2016 NFL Draft is being focused on the two quarterbacks who will, barring a major shock, be picked with the first two selections in Thursday’s first round, there is plenty of signal-caller talent that will be available in later rounds.
One of the most sought after quarterbacks ,who will likely be taken in the second or third round, is former Mississippi State Bulldogs star Dak Prescott. After returning to school for his senior season, Prescott is leaving “StarkVegas” (the nickname of MSU’s home city of Starkville) as arguably the best player in the history of the program.
Prescott endured himself to Bulldogs fans both with his on-field performance (including leading the school to their first No. 1 ranking in the polls in program history) and his character off the field, including persevering through the tragic death of his mother to cancer during the 2013 season.
Before the 2015 regular season finale over the rival Ole Miss Rebels, Prescott wrote a letter to Bulldogs fans and the school thanking them for all they had done to help shape his life and get him through the tough times. The school returned the favor by producing this video of fans, school officials and head coach Dan Mullen (along with his wife), letting Prescott know what he meant to them:
"Dear @15_DakP,You wrote us a letter, your Bulldog family wrote you one back.#HailState #NFLDrafthttps://t.co/ePn5u6a3X4— MSU Football (@HailStateFB) April 27, 2016"
Dak Prescott saw his stock improve with an impressive showing during the Senior Bowl this January, earning game MVP honors in front of scouts from every NFL team. In his senior season with the Bulldogs, Prescott threw for over 3,700 yards to go with 29 touchdowns and just five interceptions (while running for 588 yards and 10 more scores).
