Cal football team loses it when Jared Goff is drafted No. 1 overall (Video)

Jared Goff’s California Golden Bears teammates back in Berkeley can’t contain themselves when their star quarterback goes No. 1 to the Los Angeles Rams.
They had to know what was about to happen. The California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 had to know that one of their own was about to go No. 1 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. That special player and former teammate of theirs was quarterback Jared Goff.
The Los Angeles Rams traded up from No. 15 to No. 1 with the Tennessee Titans just to have the opportunity to take their next franchise quarterback. While the Philadelphia Eagles did move up from No. 13 to No. 8 and eventually to No. 2 to select their own franchise quarterback, they secretly wanted North Dakota State Bison’s Carson Wentz all along.
Back in Berkeley, nearly all of Goff’s Golden Bears teammates had their smart phones out to record the ever-so-special moment where their beloved junior quarterback would go No. 1 overall to the Rams. When it did finally happen, the entire football just lost it.
Goff’s selection No. 1 overall to the Rams is great not only for his immediate family, but also his entire Cal family back in Berkeley. When Goff was a freshman back in 2013, the Golden Bears were the worst team in the Pac-12, mustering a measly 1-11 regular season record.
Each year Goff was the starting quarterback, Cal improved and eventually got to a bowl game in 2015 with an above .500 record. Goff is by far the most polished pocket passer that entered the 2016 NFL Draft. He has the chance to start right away for Jeff Fisher’s Rams in 2016, but may have to spend the first half of the season backing up last year’s starter in Case Keenum.
