Luke Walton has been hired by the Los Angeles Lakers to be their next head coach and the fans have spoken.
The Los Angeles Lakers recently fired head coach Byron Scott after two seasons. His time with the team was terrible as they only won 38 games. This probably necessitated a change in direction.
Among the rumored candidates to take over was former Laker player Luke Walton. He has been an assistant for the Golden State Warriors the past few seasons, winning the NBA Finals in 2015. Walton also took over as head coach of the Warriors for half the season while Steve Kerr rehabbed his back.
Well, the Lakers were apparently a good enough option for Walton to leave the Warriors, as he agreed to become their head coach on Friday night. The current roster is a project compared to the all-time great Golden State team from the 2015-16 season, so there’s some work ahead.
As always, fans took to Twitter to comment. Here is what some had to say about the Lakers’ new head coach hire.
Alvin Gentry did it last year (didn't make the playoffs)

Judging by the reaction, fans are loving this head coaching hire. Walton has the background as a player with the Lakers and the experience from being on Golden State’s bench, so of course, they are going to love the move.
Once the Warriors are either eliminated from the playoffs or win the championship, Walton will go to work trying to work with the front office to turn this team around. It won’t happen overnight, but the process should start up soon.
