The Heat picked up a win over the Hornets in an elimination game to force a Game 7 on Sunday
Having not lost at home in this series and coming off a huge road victory in Game 5, all the Charlotte Hornets had to do on Friday night was topple the Miami Heat at Time Warner Cable Arena and advance to the second round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. While Kemba Walker certainly seemed hellbent on making that reality, Heat veteran and superstar Dwyane Wade had other plans for the future of their series.
Both Wade and Walker were out of their mind throughout the night. For the majority of the first three quarters in Charlotte on Friday night, though, it was the Heat that were able to get ahead and seemed primed to hang on for a comfortable win on the road to force a decisive Game 7. Even with Nicolas Batum going out due to injury once again, Kemba and the Hornets didn’t roll over in front of the home crowd and fought back to make a game of it in the closing minutes.
With the game on the line late in the fourth quarter after Kemba made it a one-possession game, Wade proved why he’s a vaunted star in this league by stepping up with back-to-back threes (his first two makes from deep since December) in addition to big defensive plays and another big bucket. Wade’s heroics were enough for Miami to secure the win and force Game 7 to determine the winner in this fantastic series.
