NFL Draft 2016: Denver Broncos Day 2 selections
Looking at the Denver Broncos selections on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft
Unlike most Super Bowl Champions in recent memory, the Denver Broncos are looking at next season trying to largely pick up the pieces to just remain relevant, much less defend their title. After Peyton Manning’s retirement, and both Malik Jackson and Brock Osweiler leaving as free agents, the Broncos had to be looking at the 2016 NFL Draft prior to Day 1 on Thursday knowing they had to make big moves.
Holding only the last selection of the first round at No. 31 overall, making a splash in the NFL Draft seemed a bit hard for the Broncos to pull off at that position. Apparently the Broncos felt the same about it as they moved traded up with the Seattle Seahawks to move to the No. 26 overall selection where they picked one of the most intriguing prospects of the entire draft class and possibly the team’s quarterback of the future in Paxton Lynch out of Memphis.
As far as Day 2 goes, the Broncos originally would have had three selections to make on Friday when the 2016 NFL Draft started. However, they sent one of their third round picks to Seattle in that trade to move up. Now the Broncos will only make two selections on Day 2, picking at the end of Round 2 with the No. 63 overall pick and then at the end of Round 3 also with the the No. 98 overall pick. What they do in the wake of taking Lynch should be interesting.
