Looking at the Oakland Raiders selections on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft

There’s always a narrative with any team coming out of every season and, while every story in every year is nuanced, the most important aspect is whether or not the feeling around the team is optimistic or pessimistic moving forward. Despite missing out on the postseason, there’s almost no way you could look at the Oakland Raiders after last season and not be excited about their future. After they made some great moves in free agency, the 2016 NFL Draft loomed large for the Raiders to continue improving and potentially take the team to the next level.

Admittedly, the Raiders shocked everyone in the first round on Day 1 of the NFL Draft when they took safety Karl Joseph out of West Virginia with the No. 14 overall pick. Though Joseph’s an intriguing prospect and one that the Raiders could use, it felt like a huge reach to take him and that’s always frowned upon to a certain degree. However, it does make you wonder what Oakland has in store for Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft if they’re willing to reach like that so early.

The Raiders have two selections on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, one in each of the rounds that will take place on Friday. They’ll first pick with the No. 44 overall selection and then have to wait until somewhat early in the third round when making the No. 75 overall selection.
