Colin Kaepernick may be sticking around with the San Francisco 49ers after all.

Colin Kaepernick has been in the news for months regarding his status with the San Francisco 49ers. He lost his starting job late last season due to inconsistent play to Blaine Gabbert, one of the more notable quarterback busts of the decade.

Kaepernick has also reportedly been on the trade block for months. There were talks of a deal with the Denver Broncos happening which never came to fruition. They ended up trading for Mark Sanchez and drafting Paxton Lynch to fill their voids at starter and backup at the quarterback position.

No trade is close to being done for Kaepernick, and according to Bleacher Report, it seems he won’t be released either.

This is news that may not please the former University of Nevada standout. He seemingly wants out of San Francisco, who also wanted to cut ties in the offseason. A large salary due for the 2016 season is holding back a deal, though. With multiple teams still in need of a quarterback, someone could use him, but the price for what he is bringing to the field may not be worth it.

As of now, it seems Colin Kaepernick will be a 49er heading into next season. It may not be the situation that everyone wants, but after multiple poor seasons, maybe he can turn things around with a chop on his shoulder.
