NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Next: Pitcher Picks
Best Bet:
Clayton Kershaw ($13,900): Kershaw wasn’t himself in his last outing against the Braves, but he could get back on track against the Padres. Kershaw has held them to only 18 hits in 100 at bats with five RBI and a whopping 37 strikeouts. No one else has that much strikeout potential today, which makes it tough to pass on Kershaw, especially in a smaller tournament.
Honorable Mention:
Taijuan Walker ($8,300): There are little stats to support this, but Walker has been brilliant this year, and is only allowing the Royals to hit .182 off of him in 11 at bats. Now, the Royals wont strike out much, and this is a small sample, but with the way Walker is pitching, this looks like a smart play.
Dark Horse:
Rich Hill ($8,900): There is virtually no history here, but Hill has looked dominant against better teams that the Astros. He may end up being the best value of the day with the way Houston has played lately.
Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?
You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.
David Price has struggled this year, and the Yankees aren’t afraid of him. They are hitting .265 off of him in 328 at bats. Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,300) is off to a slow start, but he is 21-63(.333) with three walks, four doubles, two triples, a home run, and four RBI against Price. Chase Headley ($2,900) is 8-19(.421) with a walk, two doubles, a triple, and three RBI against Price. Brian McCann ($3,100) is 10-29(.345) with three home runs and seven driven in against Price. Play him if he is in the lineup.
Shelby Miller has not fared well against the Rockies, and has been awful in general this year. That means stack away! Nick Hundley ($3,000) is 4-9 with a double, a homer, and three RBI. DJ LeMahieu ($3,200) is 5-11 with two walks, a double, a homer, and three RBI against Miller. Heck, even Trevor Story ($4,400) has homered off of him already.
Yasmani Grandal ($3,200) is worth playing if he is in the lineup. He is 3-8 with a double, a home run, and four RBI off of Drew Pomeranz. Adrian Gonzalez ($4,000) is 3-7 with a double and three RBI.
Paul Goldschmidt ($4,700) is worth paying for today. He is 4-9 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI off of Chad Bettis. Also consider David Peralta ($3,500) He is 5-8 with a walk, a double, and a RBI.
Norichika Aoki ($3,100) is 6-13 with two walks, a double, and three RBI against Ian Kennedy in his career. Seth Smith ($3,000) could be another bargain. He is 7-24(.292) with two walks, four doubles, a home run, and three RBI against Kennedy.
Pablo Sandoval had punished Nate Eovaldi (13-20 with a homer and 11 RBI). There is no one that can match that, but consider Hanley Ramirez ($4,100). Hanley is 5-13(.385 with a double, a homer, and four RBI against Eovaldi.
On a light day light today, Billy Butler ($3,500) may be worth a try. He is 11-37(.297) with five RBI against Doug Fister.
Matt Kemp ($3,500) is a bit of a bargain today, but he is the only one that has had any bit of success against Kershaw. Kemp is 2-8 with a walk, a double, and three RBI against the Dodgers’ ace. He may be worth a look.
