Were the Clippers able to bring this series to a Game 7 against the Blazers?

77. Final. 105. 34. 103

Game 6 featured a battered Los Angeles Clippers team facing the Portland Trail Blazers on the road. The Clippers recently lost Chris Paul indefinitely and Blake Griffin for the rest of the postseason due to injury. Without them in Game 5, LA had trouble and lost by double-digits. So were they able to extend the series?

Damien Lillard opened the game red-hot. He had 14 points in the first quarter to keep the Blazers afloat with the Clippers at 24-24. Only three other players scored. LA mostly got a balanced scoring effort from their team heading into the second quarter.

Things stayed pretty even in the second quarter as well. The Blazers walked out with a 50-48 lead after CJ McCollum hit a layup with just seconds remaining. He had 11 points in the first half while Lillard didn’t get off the 14 he had in the first.

The third quarter was a fun one. The Clippers and Blazers went back and forth throughout the period, topping their totals from the previous two quarters. Most notably, Portland went off from three-point range. They were led by Moe Harkless who scored 11 points. Austin Rivers also contributed with 14 points to give the Clippers an 82-80 lead at the end of three.

The fourth quarter opened with the Blazers coming out hot. They received contributions from almost everyone on the floor and opened the lead to 5 points, which was the highest of the game at the time. Portland continued to stretch the lead but the Clippers fought back. They clawed their way to a 2-point deficit and tied it with free throws at 103-103.

A late foul would send Mason Plumlee to the line. He hit two free throws. Then the Clippers had an opportunity to tie but missed a shot. This led to the Blazers winning 105-103.
