Los Angeles Clippers: Paul Pierce is 50/50 about retiring
By Nick Ziegler
After the Los Angeles Clippers lost in Game 6 to the Portland Trail Blazers, have we seen the final game in the great career of Paul Pierce?
It has been a Hall-of-Fame career for forward Paul Pierce, but this year has been a huge disappointment for him. In addition to having his team knocked out of the playoffs in the first round, Pierce was also a non-factor for almost the entire season. With the worst season of his career this past year, Pierce is thinking about retirement, according to CSNNW.
After a pretty solid season with the Washington Wizards last year, the Clippers signed Pierce with the hopes that he would be one of the final pieces to the championship puzzle. Pierce looked like he got really old really fast this season with the Clippers, as he was barely a part of their rotation.
For the only time in his career, Pierce didn’t average double figures in points, as he scored just 6.1 points per game. For a player that has a career average of 20.0 points per game, it was strange to see a player who was a shell of himself.
Pierce still has two years left on his deal with the Clippers, but it is hard to imagine seeing him wanting to be an end of the bench player to end his career. Pierce has accomplished great things in the NBA, as he was one of the best scorers for years in the NBA and was also an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics.
It has been a great career for Pierce, but the time has clearly come for him to follow in the footsteps of Kobe Bryant and retire.
