NHL Playoffs: When is Stars vs. Blues Game 3?
The Dallas Stars travel to the home of the St. Louis Blues for Game 3 of the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
After a dramatic third period in which the Dallas Stars finally knotted the game at 3-3, the two teams were pushed into the first OT of the series. The St. Louis Blues have a postseason overtime record of 32-30 (8-17 road), while the Dallas Stars hold one of 29-38 (13-21 home), according to the NHL’s official statistics record.
The Stars managed to hold the game through one power play, after John Klingberg got a penalty for holding Vladimir Tarasenko. However, Antoine Roussel followed it up with another penalty — his third of the game —resulting in a power play goal from Blues’ captain David Backes.
The best-of-seven series is now tied at 1-1.
Brian Elliott once again performed beautifully in the net for the Blues, saving 31 shots on goal and letting in only three goals for a save percentage of .912. The Stars, meanwhile, had a bit of an interesting scramble at the crease, with Kari Lehtonen letting in three goals out of five shots on goal in the first period for a save percentage of .400. Antti Niemi then replaced him in net. making 19 saves and allowing the Blues’ game-winning goal. He finished with a .950 save percentage.
The Stars will meet the Blues on their home ice on Tuesday, May 3 at 9:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
