WWE RAW results, May 2, 2016: Live tracker

Following the live results from WWE RAW on May 2, 2016 from St. Louis, MO

WWE Payback was a show with a ton of promise going into it and, while it was quite a good show and one of the better non-big four shows in a while, there are still a lot of questions going forward. Those questions will start to be answered in St. Louis, MO on Monday night for WWE RAW live from the Scottrade Center on May 2.

Perhaps the biggest question that will need to be addressed on WWE RAW will be how well Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon are going to be able to get along. Vince McMahon gave control of WWE RAW to both of his children despite their problems and asking for blood between the two, but we’ll see if they can actually get along and put on a quality show.

Also worth keeping an eye on for WWE RAW will be the ongoing feud between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and AJ Styles. Their match at Payback got wild with a ton of interference and restarts with new stipulations, but they already have another date at the end of May for Extreme Rules. We’ll see how the two men start gearing up for that.

On a more serious note, we’ll also see what the update is on Enzo Amore after he suffered a scary injury at the Payback show that forced the tag team tournament finals to be stopped. Hopefully WWE RAW will provide an update on his condition and on what’s next in the tag division after that stoppage.

With all of that and more, you won’t want to miss anything that happens on WWE RAW in St. Louis on May 2. You can keep up with all of the action right here after the show begins at 8 p.m. ET. As always be sure to take part in the discussion down below in the comments as well.

The McMahon-McMahon Era

Shane and Stephanie McMahon were out to start the show with obvious tension in the air given that they are now both in control of WWE RAW. Steph tried to bury the hatchet by giving Shane a gift, the picture that Vince destroyed prior to WrestleMania

As they were both about to say their plans for the night, though, Kevin Owens interrupted to essentially demand his Intercontinental Championship rematch. While he was saying he was owed it, Cesaro came out to the ring to say that he had the belt won on Sunday night had it not been for Owens and Sami Zayn distracting the ref.

After protesting, Shane O Mac made his decision to have the two men duke it out for the No. 1 Contender spot for the IC title.

Intercontinental No. 1 Contender Match: Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens

As you’d expect, this match was fantastic and started out with Cesaro getting the advantage and going to town on KO.

However, when Owens was able to get Cesaro on the floor, KO hit a big Frog Splash off the apron to gain control.

When Cesaro put his hands on The Miz at ringside, though, the IC champ couldn’t handle it and attacked The Swiss Superman. Owens and Miz then started a brawl as they tried to beat down Cesaro, which brought out Sami Zayn. Zayn cleared the ring in a big way before standing tall with the IC belt.

Winner by DQ: Cesaro—No. 1 Contender not determined

There were then three backstage segments in a row. First, Stephanie McMahon tried to make Dean Ambrose believe she’s a changed woman, saying that she’d be the guest on the Ambrose Asylum tonight.

Next, The Gorgeous Truth (R-Truth and Tyler Breeze) were backstage when Goldust found them and introduced them to his new tag partner, Fandango, and announced that Breeze and Goldust would face off on Monday night.

To end it, another match was announced as Roman Reigns approached AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson backstage. The champ then challenged the trio to a six-man tag with The Usos on Reigns’ team. The former Bullet Club accepted.

Goldust vs. Tyler Breeze

This was an incredibly quick match between these two men where the most action was really Goldust trying to talk to R-Truth at ringside for being like Tyler Breeze. Breeze ultimately was able to pick up a quick win, though, when Goldust got distracted by a Truth-Fandango dance-off.

Winner: Tyler Breeze

The New Day Are Here

As The New Day made their way out to the ring, it was announced that The Vaudevillains were awarded the tag match after the No. 1 Contenders finals were stopped due to an injury to Enzo Amore.

New Day then addressed the situation and delivered a promo about how they were going to stay atop the tag division, which called out The Vaudevillains.

Aiden English and Simon Gotch went full heel in saying that Enzo should’ve gotten back up and that they made him “The Realest Guy in the Emergency Room.”

Their disrespect then called out The Dudley Boyz, who stated that The Vaudevillains didn’t win a damn thing at Payback. As the Dudleys were talking, though, out came Big Cass.

Cass was out for violence and, after a short promo, went right after English and Gotch. This started a brawl with New Day then fighting the Dudleys.

New Day and Big Cass vs. The Vaudevillains and The Dudley Boyz

This match was a ton of fun as it really was a chance for The Vaudevillains and for Big Cass to show off his abilities in the ring.

In the end, it was the faces getting the upper hand and the victory with Cass leading the way.

Winners: New Day and Big Cass

Becky Lynch vs. Emma

Shocker, I know, but these two women worked well together with Emma controlling the early action and getting a lot of offense in. However, it was a dive off the apron to the floor that helped Becky get in control of the action.

However, when Becky looked like she might be nearing a victory, Emma hit her with a thumb to the eye while the ref’s back was turned. Emma then landed a gorgeous Michnoku Driver to get the victory.

Winner: Emma

Stephanie on the Ambrose Asylum

Dean Ambrose was out first to reluctantly welcome his guest on the Ambrose Asylum, Stephanie McMahon, to the ring.

Though Steph seemed like she was trying to turn over a new leaf, Ambrose kept poking the bear and even brought up her getting speared at WrestleMania. This ultimately led to Stephanie getting upset and cancelling the Ambrose Asylum. To make matters worse, she then brought back Chris Jericho and the Highlight Reel. Jericho came out and he and Ambrose got physical.

Dean had the physical advantage early on, but Jericho hit a Codebreaker to counter Dirty Deeds. That led to him throwing Ambrose out of the ring and then, in the most dastardly act of the night, breaking Mitch The Plant over Dean’s head.

20-Man US Championship No. 1 Contender Battle Royal

Obviously there was a lot happening in this match with 20 men being involved, but the biggest things to not at the start was the WWE RAW return of Titus O’Neil. Then the League of Nations all trying to team up again and once again turning on one another after they were three of the final four remaining.

In the end, it was Rusev eliminating Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus and leaving the Bulgarian Brute in the ring with Zack Ryder. Ryder hit the Broski Boot and it looked to be over, but Rusev turned it around to throw out Long Island Iced Z and become the new No. 1 Contender.

Winner: Rusev

Charlotte Addresses Chicago Screwjob

Charlotte and Ric Flair came out to address the controversy from Payback about the bell being called for without Natalya tapping out. They brought out referee Charles Robinson who said Natty gave up and then shadily denied being in on a work with the Flairs.

As Lil Naitch left the ring, though, Natty came down and said her beef was with Ric Flair and not Charlotte. She then sent Charlotte running and locked the Sharpshooter on Ric.

Charlotte pulled him out and the Flairs were sent running.

Backstage after the segment, Stephanie met with Charlotte and Ric and said that the Women’s Champion and Natalya would be in a Submission Match at Extreme Rules with Ric Flair banned from ringside.

AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson vs. Roman Reigns and The Usos

There was a lot of great action in this match in St. Louis as AJ and Roman continued to work great in the ring together. Moreover, it was good to see Gallows and Anderson get some work in as part of the main event.

The finish ultimately came when Gallows and Anderson caught Roman on the outside and hit the Boot of Doom (nee Magic Killer) on the outside. That opened up AJ to hit the Phenomenal Forearm on an Uso for the win.

Winner: Styles, Anderson, Gallows

Gallows and Anderson tried to beat down Roman after the match and get AJ to take a chair to Reigns’ head. Styles wouldn’t do it, though, and threw the chair down. When he did that, though, The Usos came into the ring and hit AJ, Gallows, and Anderson with a chair.

This led to Styles saving his boys with a chair, but Roman only saw him taking out The Usos with a chair. Reigns then beat down AJ, culminating with a running powerbomb through the table.
