Rutgers Football unveiled some new uniforms on Tuesday night as they start a new era

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights football program has been the laughing stock of college football for the better part of the past few seasons, although they’re hoping that will change this season with the arrival of new head coach Chris Ash. Rutgers is hoping that the former Ohio State defensive coordinator will bring some of that Buckeyes winning culture to New Jersey.

While we have yet to see whether or not their fortunes on the field will be different beginning this season, one thing we know will be different is the uniforms. On Tuesday, Ash introduced us to the new digs that Rutgers will be wearing this season.

If there’s one thing that’s really noticeable right off the bat is that these are a throwback of sort. These look like a version of the uniforms the program wore in the 2000s, when they were making some noise on the national landscape.

It certainly does appear, though, that since his arrival on the Rutgers campus, Ash wants everything about this program to be different beginning this season. When he says that it’s a new era, he means that there is a new era of Rutgers football coming — right down to what they wear on the field.
