2. Young Enough to Grow With Young Lakers

One of the biggest worries among Lakers fans heading into this offseason in the midst of a rebuilding process is that the front office is going to do something monumentally stupid to try and expedite the rebuild. Possibly the worst thing that they could do and the move that would ultimately ruin everything that the Lakers have been working towards in recent years would be to sign an older veteran on the downside of his career.

For instance, if Dwyane Wade were to want to move on from the Miami Heat (as highly unlikely and near impossible as that actually is), the Lakers going after D-Wade would be one of the worst mistakes that they could possibly make for the future of the organization. Wade is obviously still a talented player with a lot to offer the Heat or any team he plays with right now. However, he’s also 34 years old and doesn’t have a lot of NBA basketball left ahead of him.

When you look at the Lakers, one of the most important things that they have to keep in mind this offseason is that they are trying to build another dynasty. They already have solid pieces with the four young pieces already on the roster, but they have to make sure that any acquisitions follow the same process.

Paul George is a player that does just that. The Pacers forward just turned 26 years old on May 2 and still has many of his best years ahead of him—even after the leg injury. He could continue to grow and lead this young Lakers core and not have to hang them up right as a potential dynasty is hitting its stride.
