2. Carlos Rodon-Chicago White Sox (45.5%)

The White Sox moved Rodon up a day from his originally scheduled start on Thursday, but he’ll still be on full rest as he faces the Red Sox tonight at U.S Cellular Field.  The Red Sox lineup is decidedly less formidable against lefties, so Rodon should be in a place to put together a good start as he opposes Clay Buchholz who has struggled badly through the first month of the season.  Rodon is set up for a win with a strong start, and I think he’ll have that tonight.

Rodon matched his season-his with seven strikeouts in his last outing against the Orioles but he gave up six runs (four earned) in seven innings and took his third loss of the season to drop to 1-3 with a 4.33 ERA. He has huge strikeout potential and enters today’s start with 27 K’s in his 27 innings.

The elite-level prospect hasn’t had his best stuff this year, but his numbers are inflated by one horrible start against the Angels, and he has been pretty solid outside of that one no-good outing.  Tonight, he should be in a place to dominate the Red Sox, so grab him if you need strikeouts.  The only reason I don’t have him at #1 is that he has given up some runs lately and is riskier than my #1 option even though #1 doesn’t have the same high-ceiling in terms of punch-outs.
