The Dallas Stars  look to even the series against the St. Louis Blues in Game 4.

The Blues defeated their guests 6-1 in Game 3, revealing just how weak Dallas can be behind the blue line.

The scoring began early in the first period: Dallas once against got on the board first, scoring just 4:44 into the first period thanks to Colton Sceviour. However, just shy of a minute later, Alexander Steen responded with a knotting goal for the Blues. David Backes scored the go-ahead goal — his ninth career postseason goal — on the team’s first power play, putting the Blues ahead 2-1. Jason Demers almost evened the score for Dallas, but the goal was revoked on a review showing that the puck had not crossed the goal line.

The second period was the beginning of the end for Dallas. First Troy Brouwer managed to score the third goal for St. Louis 2:34 into the period because of Kris Russell’s inability to outskate him to the puck. At this point, Lindy Ruff removed Antti Niemi from the net and replaced him with Kari Lehtonen, but the fresh face didn’t do the team any good: Just 1:16 later, Tarasenko would score after the puck deflected in off of Alex Goligoski’s skate, bringing the Blues to a 4-1 lead. To end the period, Antoine Roussel’s penalty gave the Blues yet another power play opportunity, during which Steen scored his second goal of the night at 18:03.

Period 3 just displayed the degeneration of Dallas. At 16:59 Dallas AHL recall Curtis McKenzie and Blues’ Ryan Reaves got into a scramble that sent them both into the penalty box for five minutes, and Stephen Johns got two minutes for boarding Alex Pietrangelo. With so many players down, it was no surprise that St. Louis would get an advantage. At 18:06, Backes scored a shorthanded goal, bringing the game to its final score of 6-1, Blues.

The Dallas Stars will try to even the series in Game 4 of the series against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, May 5 at 9:30 PM ET. The game will be aired on NBC Sports Network.
