22. player. 170.
The Charlotte Hornets are going to have plenty of offseason decisions to make as nearly all of their important wing players will be free agents this summer. Nicolas Batum and Courtney Lee are both unrestricted free agents while Jeremy Lin, who often shared the back court with Kemba Walker, has a player option that he seems likely to decline. Florida State’s Malik Beasley can help fill the potential void by offering the Hornets an efficient scoring guard who still needs to make improvements on the defensive end.

Beasley finished the season averaging 20.9 points per 40 minutes on an impressive 58.3 true shooting percentage. The 6-5 guard is excellent attacking in the open floor where his speed and athleticism shines. He’s an excellent catch-and-shoot option in the half court, having made 38.7 percent of his 142 three-point attempts as a freshman. Beasley isn’t a great shot creator yet, but he’s capable of beating scrambling defenders off the dribble.

Although Beasley isn’t much of a defender yet, there is some potential there given his quickness and athletic ability. At worst, he should be able to contribute on the defensive glass to help his team close out possessions. Last season, Beasley averaged an impressive (for a guard) 7.1 rebounds per 40 minutes.

To read more about Malik Beasley, <a href=. SG. Florida State. Malik Beasley
