One of Jerry Sandusky’s victims describes the 1971 sexual assault that was ignored by the legendary Penn State football coach.

New details continue to emerge in the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse case, and they surround former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno and other members of his coaching staff.

One of Sandusky’s victims spoke to CNN about an incident in 1971, in which Sandusky sexually assaulted him in a Penn State bathroom. He told CNN that he reported the incident to Paterno, who ignored it.

As many as six different Penn State assistant coaches saw “inappropriate behavior” between longtime defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky and young boys, according to an NBC News report.

It isn’t clear whether any of the assistant coaches reported what they had witnessed, according to the report, which cites court documents and multiple sources with direct knowledge of legal proceedings.

According to the NBC News report, one former assistant coach saw an incident involving Sandusky back in the late 1970s, while three other coaches that have gone on to join NFL and Division I teams allegedly witnessed incidents in the 1990s.

“You won’t believe what I just saw,” one of those three coaches said aloud after entering a room with other Penn State football staff members, according to NBC’s report, which cites sources who spoke to a person with direct knowledge of the interaction.

It was revealed on Thursday that former head coach Paterno was reportedly made aware of sexual abuse by Sandusky in 1976.

Sandusky is currently serving 30-60 years in prison after he was convicted of molesting 10 boys he met through a charity dating back to 1994.
