Tennessee Titans sign Delanie Walker to extension
The Tennessee Titans agreed to a contract extension with tight end Delanie Walker.
Don’t look now but the Tennessee Titans offense could be one of the most improved units in the AFC next season.
Less than one week after the 2016 NFL Draft ended, the Titans are focusing on the veteran talent on the roster and came to an agreement on a new two-year extension with tight end Delanie Walker.
The deal is worth $14.7 million with $8.2 million in guarantees.
Walker is coming off a season that saw him haul in 94 receptions for 1,088 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers represented new career-highs for the veteran tight end. The Titans front office is hoping for similar production as last year’s first round pick, Marcus Mariota continues to develop in the offense.
With Walker a staple at the tight end position, the Titans focused on their backfield in the offseason and the draft with the trade for former NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray from the Philadelphia Eagles and adding Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry in the second round.
The Titans used their first round pick on Michigan State offensive tackle Jack Conklin who is expected to challenge for the starting right tackle spot.
