The Memphis Grizzles have fired their head coach Dave Joerger
The Memphis Grizzles have been a consistent playoff team over the past few seasons. This year was a struggle, but they managed to make the playoffs. Marc Gasol missed most of the year due to injury. Mike Conley got hurt. Zack Randolph isn’t the player he used to be.
Maybe Memphis is going in a different direction?
They will be at head coach. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Grizzles have let go of their head coach, Dave Joerger.
Sources: The Memphis Grizzlies fired coach Dave Joerger on Saturday morning. Story soon on @TheVertical.

Joerger was an assistant with Memphis from 2007 until 2013 when he was named the team’s head coach.
In his three seasons as head coach, Joerger went 147-99 and made the playoffs in each of his three seasons. They advanced to the second round just once in those three seasons.
Joerger didn’t appear to want to be there. He had tried to interview for other jobs after last season.
Sources: For second time in three years, Joerger was seeking Memphis permission to talk with other teams on vacancies. Grizzlies let him go.

If that is the guess, I can’t blame Memphis for letting Joerger go. If your head coach is seeking permission to interview at other places for the second time in three years, it’s probably better to have a coach who wants to be there.
According to Wojnarowski, Frank Vogel will be the Grizzles first target as a replacement for Joerger. Joerger is now the Sacramento Kings top target according to Wojnarowski.
