Lots of stuff happened in the fourth quarter of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Game 4 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
Kevin Durant outscored the entire Spurs team on his own, 18-16. LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio’s two top guns, didn’t make a single shot. Enes Kanter went ham for a full 12 minutes. Serge Ibaka didn’t log a second of spin in the final frame. And if not for the surprise combination of Boris Diaw and Tony Parker, the Spurs would have fallen behind by double digits, well outside of striking distance, a lot sooner.
Oh, and another thing: Durant and Westbrook partnered up to put down the friendliest of Friendly Bounces:
Everything about this play is super friendly. The Thunder, already up by 11 points at this stage, probably still win if both Durant and Westbrook don’t get incredibly lucky. But this make was more about fashion than function.
Durant trips himself up as he’s trying to create separation from Leonard. The ball somehow finds its way to Westbrook—heavy emphasis on “finds,” as Durant should not be credited with directing the rock at all. And Westbrook, being Westbrook, tosses up a prayer of a long two from the corner, with Danny Green in his personal space. His shot rolls over the entire rim and uses most of the backboard before grazing the bottom of the nylon.
This Friendly Bounce, this moment, was absolutely magical. Just ask Cameron Payne, who couldn’t help but imitate Shakira’s honest hips and a first-time Dad’s butchered version of Peekaboo.
As always, please remember to hit us up on Twitter with any other Friendly Bounces you see.
