Sam Bradford, who had reportedly demanded a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, has decided to show up for the team’s offseason workouts.
In the past few weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles have made it clear that they are looking to go in a new direction at their quarterback position. After starting Sam Bradford for 14 games last season (after acquiring him in a trade with the now Los Angeles Rams), Bradford appears to be shown the bench with the team drafting Carson Wentz with the second overall pick.
Bradford reportedly did not want to be the team’s backup and told the Eagles that he wanted to be traded. Weeks later, he is still a member of the team and has decided that something is better than nothing.
Bradford’s agent, Tom Condon, told ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio (by way of Pro Football Talk), that Bradford has rescinded that demand and will rejoin the team. Paolantonio reported that Bradford and his officials thought the team would trade him to the Denver Broncos, but those plans failed to take place.
One of Bradford’s teammates on the Eagles, linebacker Connor Barwin, told a Philadelphia radio station that the quarterback would be attending offseason workouts with the team:
Sam Bradford to report for #Eagles voluntary workouts today, per Connor Barwin on WIP. If waited till 5/17 for OTAs would have been media.

Bradford later released a statement on Facebook, reading in part:
“The business-side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. My attention and efforts are focused on the participation in and preparation for a championship season: I am committed to my teammates and the Eagles organization for nothing less.”
Sam Bradford became the team’s starter following his trade from the Rams before the 2015 season. In 14 games, the team went 7-7 (Bradford missed two games with an injured shoulder and concussion symptoms following a loss to the Miami Dolphins).
New head coach Doug Pederson said that Bradford would be the team’s starter heading into training camp but that he hadn’t spoken with Bradford prior to the drafting of Wentz.
