Stephen Curry will make his 2016 Western Conference Semifinals debut, as he is expected to play in Game 4 versus the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.
The Golden State Warriors will be getting a big lift in Game 4 of their Western Conference Semifinals series versus the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night, as 2015-16 MVP Stephen Curry will make his series debut, according to Golden State head coach Steve Kerr.
While the Warriors have done just fine in Curry’s absence from a knee sprain he suffered in Game 4 of Golden State’s first round series versus the No. 8 seeded Houston Rockets, perhaps the Warriors may need Curry to get over the top versus a very scrappy Trail Blazers team led by point guard Damian Lillard and shooting guard C.J. McCollum.
Golden State carries a two games to one lead over Portland in their best-of-seven series, but the Trail Blazers were certainly capable of besting the Warriors in Game 4 at home if Golden State again decided not play Curry on the side of precaution.
Kerr had said previously that it would be a game-time decision on Monday night, assuming “all goes well in his warmup.” Kerr elaborated on the Curry injury stating, “he’s not really under a minutes restriction from the training staff. It’s more what he can handle condition-wise.”
So will Curry start for the Warriors in Game 4? One should assume so, given that he won back-to-back league MVPs on Monday. That being said, do expect Curry to play less than his normal allotment of minutes due to having not played in an NBA game since his injury versus the Rockets on April 24th.
