Keep an eye out for these 10 promising freshmen next college basketball season.

Kris Jenkins’ epic game-winning shot to lift the Villanova Wildcats to the National Title over the North Carolina Tar Heels is still fresh in the minds of college basketball fans across the country, but it’s never too early to start thinking about next season.

One of the most intriguing parts of any offseason is getting to know the incoming top recruits. Love or hate the one-and-done system, there’s no denying that freshmen provide plenty of excitement to college basketball year in and year out.

As great as the 2014-15 season was overall, it was a bit of a down year for freshmen, particularly compared to recent years. Top freshmen like Ben Simmons of the LSU Tigers and Henry Ellenson of the Marquette Golden Eagles were stuck on struggling teams, while seniors like Buddy Hield and Denzel Valentine dominated the landscape.

The 2016 recruiting class looks like its going to make up for that with a number of exciting freshmen coming in. Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum and Josh Jackson lead an exciting group of likely one-and-dones who should provide for a strong 2017 NBA Draft.

Many of this season’s top recruits are heading to traditional powerhouses, which only increases the intrigue. These 10 incoming freshmen figure to be a treat to watch in 2016-17.
