Disney Infinity has been shut down

Disney announced on Tuesday that they have shut down production on their Disney Infinity game.
Disney has decided to remove themselves from the “self-published console games business” by shutting down production on their Disney Infinity game.
On top of stopping production on the game, Disney is also closing Avalanche Software — the company responsible for making Disney Infinity.
"“This was a difficult decision that we did not take lightly given the quality of Disney Infinity and its many passionate fans,” Disney said in a statement. Via Kotaku.com"
Red flags started to be raised when it was announced a couple of months ago that 2016 would be the first year since the game launched in 2013 that a full new version of the game would be released. Disney Infinity: 2.0 came out in 2014, and introduced Marvel superheroes into the came. Version 3.0 was released last year and featured Star Wars characters.
In a blog statement about the development, John Blackburn, Senior Vice President and GM of Disney Infinity, thanked the fans for all of their support.
"Our goal for Disney Infinity was to bring the best of Disney storytelling to life in homes around the world, and with your support we accomplished that. We hope you had as much fun playing the game as we had making it."
There are still two more additions that will be released in the next couple of months that coincide with movies coming out later this year. First up is an update based on Alice Through the Looking Glass, coming out later in May. The final new content for Disney Infinity will be centered around the Pixar movie Finding Dory. That update will be sometime in June. These will both be characters that have been added to the existing 3.0 version of the game.
