NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.
Masahiro Tanaka has surprisingly never faced the Royals, so there will be no 2015 Champs on this list today. Hector Santiago has little history against the interleague Cardinals, so no Missouri teams will be on here. I swear that I don’t have a bias against Missouri. It’s just the way it worked out. The only Cub that Colin Rea has faced is Jason Heyward (who singled and walked). Career relievers Sean O’Sullivan has limited history against the A’s.
Rookie Sean Manaea has never faced Boston. Playing him against that lineup may prove to be very risky. Ditto for Detroit’s Michael Fulmer against the Nationals. Chris Devenski has never faced Cleveland either.

Next: Pitcher Picks
Best Bets:
Trevor Bauer ($9,000): The stat for the day is how many hits opposing hitters have off of the opposing pitcher in 47 career at bats. The answer for the Astros against Bauer is just seven, with six of them being singles. Evan Gattis did tag him for a two run homer in Gattis’s only hit in six at bats off Bauer. He has also struck out 20 Astros in only 47 at bats!
Kyle Hendricks ($8,800): The current Padres squad is just 4-46 (.087) with 11 strikeouts against Hendricks. Matt Kemp did manage a two run homer off of him in ten at bats, but that is about it. His strikeout potential is slightly lower, but his price is far below deGrom and Smyly, and past stats say he is just as good of a bet, if not better. EDIT: Jon Lester is starting for the Cubs today after last night’s rainout. Lester is a very good pick as well!
Honorable Mention:
Jacob deGrom ($10,900): deGrom doesn’t have much of a history against the Dodgers, but what he does have has been very good. The Bums are only hitting .191 against deGrom in 47 at bats with 12 strikeouts. They do have three homers and six RBI though. Bauer and Smyly’s numbers are slightly better, but I can’t find fault in using deGrom either.
Drew Smyly ($10,500): Smyly has done well against the Mariners. He has held them to a .191 average in 47 at bats while allowing only five RBI (Seth Smith has three of those on a RBI double in his only at bat against Smyly) and striking out 16! He is cheaper than deGrom with stats that are just a shade better. Smyly gets the upper hand, but just barely, tonight.
Dark Horses:
Carlos Rodon ($7,400): Starting Rodon against Texas sounds risky, but the Rangers are hitting a pathetic .138 off of Rodon in 58 at bats while striking out 22 times. They only have one homer and three RBI as well. Rodon could be a sneaky under-the-radar play, but there is risk involved.
Adam Conley ($7,500): Conley dominated the Brewers two starts ago. Now the team is hitting just .162 against him in 37 at bats with ten strikeouts. Domingo Santana is the only Brewer that has taken him deep, but he is still day to day. There is high potential for Conley to have another big game against the Brewers.
Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?
You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.
The Giants are hitting .321 against J.A. Happ in his career, so it makes sense to stack a couple. Brandon Belt ($3,800) is 3-8 with a homer and three RBI. Matt Duffy ($3,600) is 2-3 with a homer and two driven in off of Happ. Hunter Pence ($3,900) could be a good value tonight. He is 4-8 with a walk and a solo homer against Happ.
Most of the Rays have not done all that well against Wade Miley, but the ones that have are worth playing. Logan Forsythe ($4,100) is 6-21(.286) with two walks, two doubles, a home run, and three RBI off Miley. Kevin Kiermaier ($2,700) could be a nice bargain. He is 4-8 with a walk and they cycle off of Miley. Evan Longoria ($4,000) is 5-19(.263) with two walks, three doubles, two homers, and three RBI.
It is worth stacking Rockies against Rubby De La Rosa. Carlos Gonzalez ($4,700) is 4-10 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off Rubby. Nolan Arenado ($5,500) just might be worth it. Arenado is 3-6 with who homers and three RBI against De La Rosa.
A Twins short stack against Kevin Gausman may be in order. Joe Mauer ($3,400) is 5-8 with a walk, a double, a triple, and two RBI against Gausman. Miguel Sano ($3,700) is 2-5 with two homers and four RBI off Gausman.
Yes, you should stack Orioles against Phil Hughes. You probably don’t need me to tell you that, but you may need to know whom to stack. Chris Davis ($4,400) is 8-30(.267) with two walks, a double, and a solo homer off Hughes. Nolan Reimold ($2,900) is 3-8 with two walks, a double, and a solo homer. Adam Jones ($3,600), despite the terrible average (.176 in 51 at bats) has three homers and eight RBI against Hughes. Don’t sleep on Manny Machado ($4,900). Machado is 10-19(.526) with a walk, two homers, and three RBI against Hughes.
Next: More Notes For 5-10
Adrian Gonzalez ($3,200) comes at a huge discount because of his matchup, but AGon is 3-8 with a walk, two home runs, and five RBI against Jacob deGrom. He could be a steal at this price.
The Tigers have practically no history against Joe Ross, but Jarrod Saltalamacchia ($3,100) hit a solo homer off of him in two at bats while he was with the Braves.
It isn’t much, but Cameron Rupp ($2,400) is 1-2 with a three run homer off of Matt Wisler in his young career.
Ian Desmond ($4,000) has only faced Carlos Rodon twice, but his one hit was a two run home run.
Brandon Phillips ($4,100) is 5-11 with a double, a triple, a home run, and three RBI off of Pittsburgh starter Juan Nicasio.
Troy Tulowitzki ($3,300) has drilled Matt Cain in his career. Tulo is 21-64(.328) with seven walks, five doubles, a triple, five home runs, and ten RBI off Cain when he was in Colorado. He is a strong play at a reasonable price tonight.
Dioner Navarro ($3,800) has hit Derek Holland very hard so far. Navarro is 3-5 with a double, two homers, and five RBI off of Holland. If Navarro starts for the White Sox, he should for you as well.
Jace Peterson ($2,800) could be a nice cheap option tonight. He is 2-6 with a homer and three RBI against Adam Morgan.
Justin Bour ($3,300) may as well be hitting off a tee against Zach Davies. Bour is 3-5 with a double, a homer, and four RBI off of him already.
