We found out four schools that really want to get in on the reported Big 12 expansion soon

We always need something to talk about during the college football off-season, and this year the main topic of conversation has been the possibility of Big 12 expansion. It’s been in the news for a few weeks now, as the conference looks to get to at least the 12 teams needed to hold a title game at the end of the season.

With a conference as lucrative as the Big 12, there will always be schools ready to get in on possible expansion, and we now know four schools that are looking to join this power five conference.

According to Jake Trotter at ESPN, Memphis, Houston, Central Florida and Colorado State are currently lobbying for a spot in the Big 12 to help them grow the way they presumably want. We say “presumably” because it’s reported that Oklahoma and Texas –for obvious reasons– couldn’t really care less about expanding.

These four schools are really no surprise, as they all have something they can bring to the athletic table for the Big 12 in a variety of sports. Yes, most of this talk is centered around football, but they are interested in other sports as well when it comes to expanding.

Whether or not the expansion of the Big 12 happens remains to be seen, but it shouldn’t be all that much of a shock that schools will be more than happy to accept that invite, should they get one.
