No. 2 – The Eastern Conference needs to keep up with the West when it comes to young talent

While it looks like the Golden State Warriors are on a path to a second straight NBA title, the Eastern Conference will again be looking at their friends on the other side with jealousy and a desire to bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy back across the Mississippi River.

With LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and others on the wrong side of 30, the Eastern Conference needs some fresh blood. It doesn’t look like they are going to get Kevin Durant to head over to their side of the table (and Dwight Howard is likely to stay on the Western side as well), so teams in the East need to start replenishing their supplies from the draft on up.

New York City can create the next great superstar and make the brands that are Ben Simmons or any other top pick into a household product that will, likely, get some of the free agent to head back East. It may not bring superstars, but the Western Conference has won 10 of the last 15 championships, so the Eastern Conference has to do something.
