3. Boston Red Sox

If the Yankees are involved, you know the Boston Red Sox will be too. It has been a long time since the Red Sox have been afraid to pay a massive contract for a big-time free agent, and if Arrieta hits the open market, they are a fair bet to get their checkbooks out.

The Red Sox lacked an ace last year so they did not hesitate to go out and get David Price in free agency. Now, similarly to the Dodgers and Kershaw, they lack depth behind Price and will undoubtedly be in the market for an ace or a strong number two. Adding Arrieta at the top to pair with Price would be ideal, giving the Red Sox the best 1-2 combination in baseball.

The Red Sox are going to have some money come off the books then and with a strong offense built around young stars, may be in the perfect situation to pay big for a starter like Arrieta. The appeal of Boston, Fenway Park and a young, talented team (similar to what the Cubs have) would be appealing to Arrieta as well.
