Rams’ T.J. McDonald arrested on suspicion of DUI
By Jason Parker
Los Angeles Rams safety T.J. McDonald was detained by police after he allegedly drove his vehicle into a parked car Tuesday morning.
For the second time since their move from St. Louis earlier this year, the Los Angeles Rams are dealing with one young player being in trouble with the law. This time, safety T.J. McDonald is dealing with a DUI arrest not far from the team’s new home.
According to ESPN, McDonald’s arrest came after police responded to the scene of an accident involving a parked car:
"A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed Tuesday night that McDonald was arrested after he allegedly ran into a parked car on the 22900 block of Gershwin Drive in Woodland Hills, California. After police arrived at the scene, they evaluated and arrested McDonald at 8:30 a.m. PT and booked him at about 3:40 p.m. for a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence-other. The “other” designation means that McDonald was suspected to be under the influence of something other than alcohol."
McDonald was later released on $300 bail that evening and was given a June 3 court date. The Rams issued a statement saying they were aware of the arrest and are in the process of gathering more information on it.
McDonald is a California native who played his college career with the USC Trojans before being picked by the Rams in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. During his NFL career, McDonald has started 37 games and has over 200 tackles to go with four sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
McDonald’s teammate with the Rams, running back Tre Mason, was arrested earlier this year on a variety of charges that included marijuana possession and resisting arrest.
