Patrick Ewing interviewed with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Sacramento Kings for their head coaching jobs. Here are five reasons Memphis should hire him.

It took ridiculously far too long for NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing to be realistically considered for a head coaching position. Ewing emerged as one of the Association’s premier top assistant head coaches in the 2015-16 NBA season serving under Steve Clifford of the 48-win Charlotte Hornets.

Ewing isn’t just a former star center in the NBA that can only coach big men. He’s committed himself to proving to all of his coaching colleagues that he is ready for something bigger on his plate, like being an NBA head coach.

Ewing has had at least two interviews for head coaching opportunities during this offseason’s coaching carousel: the Sacramento Kings some time ago and the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday.

While Sacramento made a terrific hire for their unique set of dysfunctional circumstances by grabbing former Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger earlier in the week, he’s definitely in the mix for what the Grizzlies may want to replace Joerger in 2016-17. Here are five reasons that Memphis should hire the former superstar center for the New York Knicks as the Grizzlies’ next head coach.
