According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Indiana Pacers will be making assistant coach Nate McMillan their new head coach.

After the Indiana Pacers bounced back this year and made the NBA Playoffs behind Paul George and some key players, they made a rather shocking move after their first-round elimination, when they decided to get rid of head coach Frank Vogel.

Vogel is a favorite among many in the league and the work that he did in his time with the Pacers was fantastic. With Vogel out, the Pacers clearly had a tough choice to make for the next head coach of their basketball team.

It appears as if they’re going with an in-house candidate and some with over a decade’s worth of head coaching experience in the league. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pacers and assistant coach Nate McMillan are finalizing a deal that will make McMillan the next head coach of the Pacers.

As a former player in the league and a coach that has coached plenty of playoff teams, McMillan can step in right away and the Pacers will know that they have a coach that they can depend on to get the job done.

He’s coached other young superstars in the league before and by already having an established relationship with players on the team, it should be a comfortable feel for everyone involved.

Larry Bird had a big decision on his hands with hiring the next head coach of the club, but it appears that he feels going in-house was the best move for everyone involved.
