The 2015-16 Bundesliga season is over and the table is officially set with who is automatically relegated.
For the most part, the final day of Bundesliga action for the 2015-16 season meant very little to teams. However the relegation battle was still in full swing, and it took to the final moment to find out what teams where automatically relegated and which one enters the relegation playoff.
SV Werder Bremen found a late goal against Frankfurt to ensure their safety from the relegation zone and remain in the top Bundesliga devision for another season. The result forces Entracht into the relegation playoff, where they will face off against FC Nuremberg.
FC Nuremberg finished third in the second division and will now face Entracht in a two-legged playoff to decide the 18th team in Bundesliga’s top division next season.
Hannover 96 disappointed their fans throughout most of the season and find themselves heading down a division. VfB Stuttgart lost 3-1 to Wolfsburg on Saturday and missed out on the relegation playoff with a win. As a result, they finished 17th in the table and didn’t look like a team motivated by their slim chances of staying in the the top league in German soccer.
