The New York Knicks have named David Blatt, Kurt Rambis, and Frank Vogel as finalists for their next head coach. Here are five reasons it should be Blatt.

The New York Knicks have been one of two teams to have taken an absurdly long time to hire their next head coach, along with the Western Conference’s Houston Rockets. New York parted ways with Phil Jackson protegé Derek Fisher mid-season and decided to go with another Jackson/Triangle disciple Kurt Rambis in the interim.

While the Knicks’ coaching search for a permanent replacement for Fisher has taken several months, according to the New York Daily News’ Frank Isola, the three finalists for the gig are Knicks interim head coach Rambis, former Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel, and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.

This could mean that the Knicks’ head coaching vacancy will be filled in a matter of days, now that Jackson is back from a poorly timed vacation. Though Jackson has interviewed both Blatt and Vogel, he may have tipped his hand earlier and will probably want to stick with Rambis if he ultimately gets his way.

While Rambis has the ear of the front office and Vogel is the best overall head coaching candidate available on the market, the Knicks need to do what is best for them and hire Blatt before somebody else does. Here are five reasons that Blatt to the Knicks makes a ton of sense.
