Adrian Peterson compares Teddy Bridgewater to Tom Brady
By David Rouben
Adrian Peterson outdid any fans’ hyperbole when he compared his teammate Teddy Bridgewater to Tom Brady.
Having confidence in your teammates is vital to team success, but there should be a line when it comes to pumping tires. When Adrian Peterson appeared on Mike Florio’s Pro Football Talk show , he compared Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s game to Tom Brady’s:
“He reminds me of a Tom Brady because Tom Brady is great at those (medium) passes, those short passes and mid-range passes, and that’s exactly what Teddy does as well. He’s the type of guy that needs the receiver that runs routes and that’s at a specific location that you’re practicing. So I feel like with the additions that we’ve made to the offensive line and of course me envisioning what I’ll be able to bring to the offense as well, I think that’s going to make his job a lot easier.”
While it is usually the fans’ job to make hyperboles and guarantee championships, Peterson has done that already with this comment as well as the one he made to Peter King that the Vikings will win the Super Bowl this year.
While Teddy Bridgewater has done a great job in his first two seasons as a pro, especially without a true number one receiver, it’s crazy to compare him to Tom Brady already given all that the Patriots quarterback has accomplished. Then again, Peterson knows him better than any of us do, and perhaps there’s something to Teddy that we don’t know.
The fact that they won the AFC North with Mike Wallace as their primary receiver certainly speaks to the young quarterback’s ability, and addressing that position in the draft this year will help their chances of making a deep playoff run this year:
But Peterson’s comments will put a lot of pressure on Bridgewater, and it’ll be up to him and Peterson to make good on his Super Bowl promise.
