The Raptors ran away from the Heat in Game 7 to advance to their first ever Eastern Conference Finals

89. 110. 116. 81. Final

Entering the Air Canada Centre on Sunday afternoon, both the Toronto Raptors and the Miami Heat knew that it could potentially be their last game of the season and the 2016 NBA Playoffs. The winner would move on to the Eastern Conference Finals while the loser would be on the outside looking in after a hard-fought, injury-plagues series. It was everything a Game 7 is all about.

From the start, it looked like fans might be in store for another incredibly close game. The Raptors and Heat were exchanging blows and, considering that three games in the series had already gone to overtime leading up to Game 7, it seemed like the decisive game could be more of the same. It was at the end of the first half, though, that the Raptors started to get a little warm.

Coming out of the locker room from halftime, Toronto cranked up the heat and went from “warm” to scorching as they just couldn’t be stopped. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan were brilliant, but Bismack Biyombo was every bit as big for them as an option offensively at the rim, a rebounder, and a defender.

Meanwhile, Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade were playing solid and keeping up in the third quarter. However, they ended up going cold from the floor in the fourth while the Raptors were getting offensive boards and forcing turnovers galore. That sparked an enormous run for the home team in front of a raucous crowd as Toronto picked up the victory to advance to their first-ever Eastern Conference Finals.
