NHL Playoffs, Sharks vs. Blues Game 1 live stream: Watch online
The St. Louis Blues and the San Jose Sharks face each other tonight in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
After defeating their respective opponents, the Dallas Stars and the Nashville Predators, through seven games, the Blues and the Sharks enter the final round before the Stanley Cup Finals. The Sharks have never been in the Stanley Cup Final, while the Blues were there in 1970 but were unsuccessful.
The Blues are 3-4 in the Scottrade Center and 5-2 on the road, including their 6-1 domination of the Stars at Dallas two days after failing to clinch an early series win. The Sharks, meanwhile, were the NHL’s best road team in the regular season, but they haven’t performed quite as successfully as the visiting team during the postseason. They were 4-0 at home in the second round of the playoffs, but 3-0 in Nashville.
Brian Elliott will remain in goal for the Blues tonight in his first extended postseason opportunity. So far, he has made 441 postseason saves. Martin Jones, though he had not made a postseason start prior to this year, has so far impressed and instilled confidence in his teammates.
Though Blues’ Patrik Berglund is playing a fabulous postseason after missing about half of the regular season, the Sharks hold a top-ranked power-play unit that has been cultivated beautifully throughout the playoffs so far. The Sharks have converted 31 percent, the best of any team that made it past the first round of the playoffs, and that record improves to 41 percent when you look at wins alone.
