Sacramento Kings
From a pure entertainment standpoint, it is hard to match the Kings on an annual basis. Sacramento has been an abject disaster as a franchise for some time, and it hasn’t been done in anything approaching anonymity. There are regularly issues with personnel (hi, DeMarcus Cousins), front office types and with a potentially insane majority owner, and the Kings can’t keep a head coach for any length of time.
Wouldn’t it be tremendous if the Kings suddenly lucked into a top-flight prospect to pair with Cousins?
If we are trying to wish the best for either Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram, this is not the path that I would recommend, simply because of everything mentioned above. However, playing with Cousins would be very nice from a talent perspective, and the sheer presence of a top-flight center would open the floor for anyone operating on the perimeter in Sacramento.
To be at least somewhat fair to this organization, the Kings did add a competent head coach in Dave Joerger and there are (faint) signs that the front office is calming down. Still, this rigging would have a lot more to do with enjoying grease fires than anything else.
Sorry, Sacramento.
