NHL Playoffs, Lightning vs. Penguins Game 2: Full highlights, final score and more
Sidney Crosby proved why he’s the best player in the world as he scored the game winning goal in overtime to lead the Penguins to a 3-2 win.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were able to grit out a 3-2 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning to tie the Eastern Conference Finals at one game a piece Monday night. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was amazing when he needed to be with the overtime winner, which was surprisingly the first playoff overtime winner of his glorious career.
Pittsburgh also got goals from Matt Cullen and Phil Kessel. Cullen and Kessel’s goals gave the Penguins an early 2-0 lead. However, the Lightning would not give up as Anton Stralman and Jonathan Drouin answered with two unanswered goals of their own to tie the game at two goals apiece each at the end of the first period.
Monday night was all about the goalies. Two young goalies, Matt Murray and Andrei Vasilevskiy, squared off with Murray coming out on top. Give credit to Vasilevskiy, though, he played phenomenally.
Three stars
Vasilevskiy was phenomenal. After allowing two goals early in the first period, he was flawless and kept the Tampa Bay Lightning in the game when they likely did not deserve to be in the game. Vasilevskiy saved 38 of the 41 shots on goal that he faced.
Stralman scored the first goal of the game and his first goal of the playoffs after playing in his first game since March. The Lightning missed him a lot.
Crosby stepped up his game when his team desperately needed him to step it up. He had a great game and even managed to make Jeremy Roenick look like an idiot in the process. Everyone wins!
