Tiger Woods hits three balls in the water at Congressional

Tiger Woods finds the water three times at the par-3 10th at Congressional Country Club.
Ahead of June’s Quicken Loans Championship, Tiger Woods was on site at Congressional Country Club for the event he will be hosting in the coming month for a press conference and to hit a few shots for the media.
Woods held a press conference that covered a range of topics including, unsurprisingly, when he is expected to return. That is still up in the air, per Woods. After the press conference, Woods went out on the course to hit some shoots for the media members in attendance.
That is when things went downhill.
The par-3 tenth at Congressional was set up as a 100-yard wedge shot over water for a closest to the pin contest. The amateur that Woods was featured with calmly stepped up and hit his ball onto the green. Woods, well, managed to hit three balls in a row directly in the water.
After Woods’ first swing you can clearly hear him say, “Boy, I’m stiff. That’s in the water.”
After his second found the water, “That’s good for me!”
Only to be pushed into hitting a third, which also found the water.
Check out Woods’ shots below.
Before passing judgment on Tiger, or suggesting he’s never going to return, take a moment to analyze the situation. Woods walked onto the course clearly not warmed up while still recovering from his back injury. It would be difficult for anyone to hit a perfect 100-yard wedge while hurt and stiff.
Add in that this wedge shot was for a media and amateur event, it’s unlikely Tiger was really trying.
Yes, it was three balls, but who cares? This moment is meaningless and it is merely a chance for people to continually question if Tiger is ever going to return and be able to play competitive golf.
If you’re questioning Woods ability to hit100-yard wedge shots, you need to think carefully about who we are talking about and the situation he found himself in.
