3. Proving himself in final collegiate season

I know what you’re thinking, “Leonard Fournette is only going to be a junior in 2016.” This may be true, but it will also almost surely be his final season at the collegiate level because of the potential he posses to be a top draft pick and the insurance policies he took out to protect himself from potentially injuring himself this season.

With just one more year left to become the best player in college football, guys usually like to prove themselves — even as juniors. Leaving it all on the line to show everyone just why he’s receiving so much hype will be a priority and ensuring his head coach has a job past 2016 is up there as well.

Fournette has accomplished nearly everything possible for a collegiate star, but winning the Heisman Trophy has to be next on his list.

Also, why wouldn’t he want to be the first Heisman winner from LSU since 1959 when senior halfback Billy Cannon took home the crown? It’s been nearly 60 years since an LSU Tiger has won, and cementing his place in school history as quite possibly the best running back to ever venture through Baton Rouge would be huge.

This kid is going to make history this season.
