3. Detroit Pistons (No. 18)

Detroit is a franchise that hasn’t seen much success since Flip Saunders was head coach and Chauncey Billups was still the point guard. Many would argue the downfall of the Pistons came when Joe Dumars, the general manager at the time, traded Billups for Allen Iverson.

The Pistons haven’t made the playoffs since that 2008-09 season — that was until the 2015-16 season. Stan Van Gundy has arguably constructed a solid winning roster and he could afford to add another top-10 pick.

Last year, Detroit drafted Stanley Johnson who really came into his own at the end of the season and found his voice in the postseason when guarding LeBron James.

Johnson, Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris make for a scary young team in need of another piece to really contend for that Eastern Conference, or NBA, title.

No. 18 overall won’t add much of a game-changer, but trading into the lottery definitely would. Where they’re at might yield a guy like Denzel Valentine who could fill a need and has been compared to a guard version of Draymond Green, but it would be safer to move up.
