Somebody made a fake 30 for 30 trailer based on Bartolo Colon’s home run.
If you somehow missed Bartolo Colon’s home run, then you must live under a rock. Not only was the play itself extremely improbable, but it’s been immortalized countless times over in a tattoo, and a parody of The Natural.
Well, now there’s been another parody, as somebody made a fake 30 for 30 trailer based around the home run, titled Big Sexy.
The trailer not only shows his home run, but also Colon’s previous failed at-bats to give off the impression that he’s overcoming the odds.
30 for 30 documentaries are often about stories that shook the sports world, or when the impossible was made possible, so even though this is fake, there’s no reason to believe that Bartolo’s home run can’t be turned into a documentary. It’s a feel-good story that a lot of people would be interested in seeing, and the home run could become even more intriguing if both Colon himself and the San Diego Padres provided some more backstory to it.
Improbably, despite playing for nearly 20 years, as well as being a Cy Young winner, this home run will be the thing that eventually defines Bartolo Colon’s major league career. If they don’t make a 30 for 30 out of this, it could still be a worthy subject for his autobiography.
