Tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by LeBron James, are going to begin a series for the title of Eastern Conference champions. The winner of said series will get to move on and take on the winner of the series between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder. Yes, these teams are the cream of the crop in the NBA right now and are really playing some great basketball.
The Cavs in particular have been one of the most impressive teams in the entire playoffs. They’ve destroyed the competition having yet to lose a game, and have answered most of the doubts thrown their way throughout these playoffs. Cleveland spent much of the regular season stumbling around looking no part the contender they were supposed to be, but at the same time were clearly a class above the rest of the conference. Perhaps this is why they fell into a personality that needed to flip a switch once they reached the playoffs, or maybe it just took this long for them to actually reach their potential as a team. Either way, the Cavs are what they have claimed to be all year and will not be an easy out for any of their western conference foes.
Facing Cleveland? It’s that team. This other team has been alright, but a lot of drama and doubt has defined them throughout the playoffs so far. The stars have been inconsistent. The role guys haven’t shown up when always needed, and there have even been some injuries. It took seven games in both rounds for them to actually make the Eastern Conference finals, but hey now that they’re here maybe they can make some noise. Other has had some moments where they’ve been a legitimately great team, and that is why they’re here in the conference finals right? Bad teams don’t make it this far. Even one has forgotten as this one.
