Looking at the 25 wildest shakeups in the history of the NBA Lottery

The NBA Lottery can be a gift to some NBA teams, a curse to others, and something in between to the rest. However, one thing that’s always for certain is that things can get wild when it comes to the NBA Lottery. From the moment that the Ping Pong balls are drawn (or the envelopes selected way back when) to the lottery portion of the actual draft, things are always liable to get wild.

From its institution over 30 years ago in 1985, things have been getting crazy and shaken up in the NBA Lottery. Whether that means a team with poor odds rising up the ranks in a major way to get one of the top picks, a team going on a hot streak from year-to-year in the NBA Lottery, or simply a team making an insane move on or around draft night with their lottery pick, things get shaken up and get wild quite often.

However, not all shakeups in the NBA Lottery are created equal. There are certainly some that stand out more than others, some that are crazier in hindsight, and so on.

With all of that in mind, though, let’s take a look back at all of the wild things that have happened over the decades-long history of the NBA Lottery. These are the 25 most shocking and craziest shakeups in the history of the lottery.
