Five reasons why Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya can bring home the 2016 Heisman Trophy.

The first full weekend of college football is only 16 weeks away, but it’s already prime season for one of the sport’s most passionate and entertaining discussions — who will win the Heisman Trophy?

Last season, Alabama running back Derrick Henry took home the hardware, edging Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson in the closest vote since 2011.

Henry has since moved on after being drafted No. 45 overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2016 NFL draft. That means the college football world will have a new Heisman Trophy winner, and former Ohio State running back Archie Griffin will, at least for the time being, remain the only two-time Heisman winner.

Watson and McCaffrey both return this season, as does standout LSU running back Leonard Fournette. Those three are considered the favorites entering the season, but as we’ve seen in previous years, a darkhorse or two always emerges.

Enter, Brad Kaaya. The Miami Hurricanes’ junior quarterback might not rank highly on current Heisman forecasts, but there’s plenty of time for that to change. Here are five reasons why Kaaya can win the Heisman Trophy this year.
