The New York Knicks look to be settling on Jeff Hornacek as the next head coach of the team

It appears as if the search for the next head coach of the New York Knicks has come to a close. According to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, the team will soon announce that Jeff Hornacek will be the new head man of the franchise on the court.

Given some of the other names that were rumored for the position, this news may come as a bit of a surprise. But, apparently, Phil Jackson and the rest of the Knicks brass must have enjoyed something about what he brings to the table and are hopeful that he can turn this franchise around in the near future.

Hornacek was recently the head coach of the Phoenix Suns. He took over the team in 2013 and never made the playoffs. After 49 disappointing games this past season, he was let go by Phoenix and put on the open market. He was not on that market for long, though, as he’ll now be heading up one of the more notable franchises in all of the NBA.

His record in Phoenix was 101-112.

Now the questions will start to be asked, such as how much of Phil Jackson’s triangle offense will be implemented by the new coach of the Knicks. This seemed like an odd fit to begin with for the team, but this is the direction they’ve decided to go so we shall see beginning next season.
