Jeopardy contestants don’t know who Cam Newton is (video)

Cam Newton was one of the quarterbacks in this year’s Super Bowl, but the three contestants on Tuesday’s episode of Jeopardy had no clue who he was.
This past season, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton went from being one of the best players in the league to a household name to people who don’t like sports. Newton was named the league’s MVP and set records while leading the Panthers to Super Bowl 50, where they lost to the Denver Broncos.
Apparently, we found the three people who didn’t even watch the Super Bowl this past February…and they were all contestants on Tuesday night’s episode of Jeopardy. The long-running game show was in Washington D.C. for “Power Players” Week, and this episode included CNN host Anderson Cooper, CBS’s 60 Minutes reporter Lara Logan and MSNBC analyst Michael Steele.
When a question about Newton was selected, the three had the classic deer in the headlights look and even Logan tried to ask for a different question (because she apparently has never watched Jeopardy before and didn’t know you couldn’t do that):
Look, we get that even the non-sports fan isn’t going to know about Newton’s stats during his rookie season in 2011. But even many people who aren’t fans of the sports watched the Super Bowl this year and know that Newton is the quarterback of the Panthers, so why not take a guess?
Heck, the Super Bowl was even broadcast on Logan’s network…was she not involved in the company emails promoting the action?
