John Terry will remain with the club he has spent over two decades with after agreeing to a one-year deal with Chelsea FC for next season.
On Sunday, soccer legend John Terry was emotional when speaking with fans of Chelsea FC following Sunday’s 1-1 draw against EPL champs Leicester City. After spending over two decades playing at Stamford Bridge, Terry was unsure if he would be back for another stint with the Blues.
As it turns out, Terry will be back for at least one more season with the club after he signed a one-year deal for the 2016-17 season.
Terry had told fans and the media as early as January that it seemed unlikely he would be back with the club after his contract expired following Sunday’s game.

That changed after a meeting with director Marina Granovskaia and chairman Bruce Buck and now Terry is excited for another year with the club, according to Chelsea’s website:
"“I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through.“I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.”"
John Terry signed with Chelsea as a 14-year-old prodigy and has played 18 seasons with the big club. During his time with the Blues, Chelsea FC has won four EPL titles, five FA Cups and the 2011-12 Champions League title. At the age of 35, Terry is likely to take more of a backup role under new head coach Antonio Conte.
