SF. Creighton. Kyle Korver. 11. player. 41.

Before the Golden State Warriors drafted Stephen Curry, they struggled for a while in the mid-2000’s. They had some players that were exciting, but the team toiled in mediocrity and just really couldn’t do anything to put them over the hump in their conference.

In the 2003 NBA Draft, they would draft Mickael Pietrus, who would have some moments on the shooting end and on the defensive end for the team. However, in a re-draft of 2003, the best option for the Warriors here would have been Kyle Korver.

Coming out of Creighton, Korver was seen as a fringe pick. He got drafted near the end of the second round by the then New Jersey Nets and was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

In Philadelphia, his career would begin to take off and he became a premier threat to drain threes from beyond the arc. He was also the rare case of a player that continued to get better as he got older, as he finally made an All-Star Game in 2015 with the Atlanta Hawks.

Had the Warriors added Korver here, they would have gotten a player that could have grown with the team. Pietrus wasn’t a bad pick by any means, but Korver would have been better here.
